Happy Holidays? Is the asteroid coming this year?

I suppose it doesn't help that I work in retail. Perhaps that has a lot to do with my grim outlook on humankind. You really do see some pretty horrid examples of wastes of sentient life. People that would have been better used as slugs or tapeworms. I don't know if it comes from religion or what but a lot of people walk around with this sense of entitlement. Where I see this most is when customers are waiting in line. A lot of customers realize that when they shop on a Saturday two weeks before Christmas that there will be lines. It is unavoidable. These people are well-mannered and respectable. It's the ones who have been living under some sort of rock the past 20 years and don't understand why they have to wait. And so when they finally get to the counter they are snippy, rude, and generally just disgusting. Of course, if I wish to continue to help feed my family and be employed I must keep my evil thoughts to myself. I must say it is helpful to have a co-worker who has the same amount of faith in human kind that I do. And he's a devout religious person too. Anyway, it's this time of year that my opinion of humankind really takes a huge dip like the stock market in October. But, oh boy, wait until after Christmas and people start returning things. Then you really see the best of the best. Now.....where did I put my scythe??

.....dark thoughts of 12-13-04

And in the dark I dream
The visions of crimson waves
Washing upon the shores of mankind
Eroding away the grains of rightiousness

I dream of the violence
The gaping fissures and cracks
That so riddle our existence
But they are reluctant to swallow whole.

And how long can this last?
Before that which we wrought
Finally comes to call
And I can be, at last, set free of you all.

Time (some questions)

Time is an interesting concept. What is time? Why do we value it so much? What would it be like if time didn't exist? Indeed, would it be possible for time to not exist? What was it like in the "time" before the Big Bang or what was it like in the "time" before God created the universe. Indeed, if there is a God who created the Universe what "time" did he come into being? Can something exist in all time? Think about it. How long has time existed? Will there be a time when time ceases to exist? If we aren't around will it matter? Some things to mull over while you are enjoying your lunch.
